Smith Places 7th at Westfield State

 
The Smith cross-country team placed seventh out of 43 teams at the James Earley Invitational at Stanley Park, Westfield, MA last Saturday. The Smithies were led by first-year Danielle Opatovsky's sixth place finish over the 6-kilometer course. Her time of 22:36.64 was less than a second out of fifth place. Kylee Drugan-Eppich placed 35th in a time of 23:43.30 with fellow junior Abby Mosca just behind in 54th place with a time of 24:16.08. First-year Katie Ferrall was 77th in 24:47.72 and Victoria Dunch, currently a junior, placed 126th in 25:34.48.

Also competing were Cynthia Masai 26:00.54, Katie Paulson-Smith 26:08.55, Kerry Grove 26:35.42, Bess Hepner 27:02.85 and Charlotte Dzialo 27:16.54.

Middlebury won the meet with Amherst placing second and Wellesley third. Smith, placing seventh beating NEWMAC school Connecticut College and fellow NESCAC competitors Wheaton, WPI, Mount Holyoke and Clark. Full results can be found at the following link:

The Smithies will next compete at the Seven Sisters Cross-Country Championship hosted by Wellesley College this Saturday, October 13th.
